re: #163 Targetpractice

I get that strategy. When we had a functional US Senate and US House that wasn’t dominated by the my-way-or-the-highway GOP, leadership could negotiate and have space to work out deals that satisfied enough on both sides that they could keep government operating.

The GOP has gone to a full metal obstructionist government, and some were thinking that they could roll Schumer (moreso than Pelosi) into cutting a deal since that’s what Schumer has been accustomed to doing for years - it’s a process/results oriented approach where negotiating a deal means everyone gets something but no one walks away empty handed.

They misjudged the situation since not even the GOP wants this nonsense.

Oh, and Trump’s FY 2019 ask for the wall is billions less than what he is publicly demanding (as if he can keep straight any of the asks). They try to fudge the numbers there too.
