That whole thing in Band of Brothers where the soldier is talking about GM reminds of of Yamamoto. In 1940 Japan produced about 100,000 cars. The US produced 10 million. Or something like that. The point is our industrial capacity was 100 times that of Japan.

Yeah, Yamamoto’s bombing of the Pacific fleet at Pearl was never intended to be an “End Game” move. It was only to give the Imperial fleet and army breathing space to run rampant throughout the Pacific and consolidate gains to make FDR rethink going toe-to-toe with an entrenched and prepared enemy.
