I had a model much like yours. Until I left it outside in the rain one night, and the notion of “cardboard tube” ceased being a footnote and became a catastrophe. Gosh, I missed that thing.

Bummer. Rain and cardboard aren’t a good mix. This was back during the Apollo missions and we’d look up at the moon and awe while thinking, “there are men up there.” Keeping the mirror clean was a always an enjoyable task.
