It should be pointed out that having to figure out if you are going to have health care next year will cause you to stop making big purchases.

Well I did my part for the economy by buying the turntable of my dreams last week. Every time I buy something expensive I immediately think that something awful and expensive is about to happen.

Sure enough, I got a letter from my doctor telling me that the blood work I had last week showed that my blood sugar was high and they diagnosed me with diabetes type 2 (I found this out on my 63rd b-day). I’m on a med now and I went out and bought a ton of veggies and nuts and zero fat dairy stuff. I needed to lose a bunch of weight anyway so the b-day and the diagnosis kicked that into high gear. I want to lose at least 80 pounds by the time I turn 65. I’m going to miss bread and ice cream and Starbucks Mocha Frappuccinos in the morning, and I need to get off my butt and start walking.

My cat also had blood work last week because the vet was thinking she might have high thyroid levels. I had a message from my vet when I got home telling me that her tests came back just on the high side of normal so she’s OK for now. Yay for that. Now we need to work on getting her weight up a few pounds. She’s 15.5 years old.
