I remember looking at a chart of the age of consent in the various states back when it was relevant to me, so…1969, 1970? There were a few benighted backwaters like New York and California where it was 18, most civilized states it was 16, in most of the former C.S.A. it was 12, and in Delaware it was 7.

Now it seems to be 18 across the board. I don’t know when that happened.

Some criminal laws in states are in conflict with their own state’s consent laws, such as my own. It is illegal in Nebraska to “lewdly induce” someone under seventeen with “carnal knowledge” (regardless of the age of the inducer), but the age of consent is sixteen.
