Uh, Joe, aren’t huge union-backed and negotiated legacy costs a significant part of the problem with GM, Chrysler (and Ford, even though they’re still breathing)? And you’re proposing to make it easier to do this across the board?

And by the way, this final note in the article:

They (business groups) are also concerned about a provision that would let government arbitrators set a contract if workers and management cannot agree on a first collective bargaining agreement within 120 days.

Now the other shoe drops. Government arbitrators indeed. A euphemism for “bureaucrats”. In other words, Government, under this provision, would have the power to make major contract decisions for any business that has a union.

If this isn’t socialism, pray tell me what is?
