re: #180 Stonemason

Sorry, yes it does. I don’t care that Williams was fired, NPR can handle staffing any way they please. I was pointing out that there was a disconnect, as usual, in accepting that both sides of any political spectrum will give a pass to stupid statements made by one of their own.

Of course in this case, Williams is more left than right, but he made a statement many on the right agree with, just as when Mr. Obama made the racist statement that his grandmother was a ‘typical white person’ for using racial epithets or crossing the street and the left generally agreed with him.

But again, the discussion should be around how to get past that crap, not how much of a bigot Williams is, but how to explain to the non-radicalized muslims that this fear is real, palpable, and needs to be addressed, loudly, by their leaders.

Instead of denouncing Williams, how about denouncing the muslims that do the crap that creates the fear in the first place?

But since you asked so nicely…

Ahem, I hearby as a catnip smoking liberal denounce all those who would attempt to use acts of violence as way of promotion their political agendas be they unionists beating up scabs, “pro life” demonstrators attacking abortionists who are only trying to practice their legal craft and help women out of a horrible bind, or Muslim jihadists trying to reshape the world into whatever bizzare dream they imagine it can be.

That said, how would you feel if I said “every time I see someone with a pro life bumper sticker, sign or t-shirt, inside a hospital I feel a shiver go up my spine?”
