speaking of birds, what with the migrating season i see some unusual birds which i have no idea what the hell they are but perhaps a birdie watcher might be interested

saw in size midway in between a finch and a sparrow but mostly rather bright blue with an orange-red belly

Only one that comes immediately to mind is Eastern Bluebird.
