One of the resident conservatives here is a prime example of that. IIRC, he pretty much was like “I have to vote GOP because it’s a family tradition.”

At this point, I’m real close to stop referring to them as ‘Republicans’ and just calling them the Tea Baggers.

I’m getting ready to start using the GOTP acronym, as in “Grand Old Tea Party.” Because the roots of all this stretch back decades, to the aftermath of the Civil Rights Act of ‘64. The one that Nixon called the “Silent Majority” and Reagan the “Moral Majority.” Except they’ve long ceased being the majority of anything and that’s scarier than anything they’ve ever faced.
