I’m not even sure if i can bring myself to call it weird, particularly in context to Alaska and their fairly permissive leanings towards recreational drug use. What is unusual (or weird) is that Sarah Palin was willing to state those views in public, which is in direct conflict with the much more prohibitionist views of the far right.

I think she just assumes that whatever she and people in her immediate circle consider normal is not only normal but American, good, wholesome, and better than they way other people live.

She is her only point of reference.

I think SFV nailed it honestly. It’s a fantastic point and makes it clear why Sarah Palin felt comfortable saying something that could cause a serious kerfluffle with the rest of the Far Right.

Here’s hoping there’s more of that coming from her in the future.
