re: #14 lawhawk

You’d think that scandals would consign disgraced politicians to the ash heap of history, but like bad dates, bad politicos keep coming back for more in NYC. Besides Weiner’s latest craziness (Carlos Danger? Really?! That’s what you’re going with?), I was just reading that former NYS Governor David Paterson is now considering a run for the Congressional seat currently held by none other than Charles Rangel (who’s had plenty of scandals of his own, including failing to pay taxes despite being the Chair of the committee in Congress that writes the tax code) if Rangel retires.

Oh, and the guy that Paterson took over for? Eliot Spitzer? He’s also running for office again as NYC Comptroller (we should just overlook the fact that he was employing call girls on a regular basis).

Each of the aforementioned NY Democrats has been up to their eyeballs in scandals - Rangel for tax evasion and real estate fraud (dealing with rent stabilized apartment/office locations), Paterson and Spitzer for infidelities/prostitution, and Weiner for being a creep.

It’s a revolving door of rogues and misfits. And people wonder why Congress has such low ratings - we keep electing and reelecting them - even after they’ve had scandal atop scandal.

You know, the money/tax crimes don’t bother me as much as the sex crimes.

Bad accounting, greed, —I understand this to a point.

Bodily fluids and breaking marriage vows—that just makes me cringe.
