One of my best friends is a geologist for the Bureau of Land Management. When the gov’t shuts down, he can’t work. Fuckin’ aye it causes enormous problems and the fact that you’re gleeful that “non-essential” federal employees will go without getting paid for an undetermined amount of time, I think, is offensive.

Not only will we not get paid for an unknown period of time, we may not get paid at all. If congress doesn’t authorize a bill for back-payment, we are screwed.
