If the earth is flat and the sun is smaller and closer, then it would STILL rise and set everywhere at the same time, but the size (area of the sky taken up by the sun) would change over the course of the day, and that change would be different depending on where you are - large at sunrise, small at sunset if you’re in the East, small at sunrise and large at sunset if you’re in the West, and small at sunrise and sunset but larger at noon if you’re in the middle.

Oh, believe me, I know. The cosmology is the craziest part of their “logic.” I think the argument is (haven’t seen it in a while) something along the lines of “it’s a disk/spot light” not some glowing orb in space. (Also, it’s the same size as the moon, which is also closer than you think)

Most of the time it’s “there’s no curvature” or something about water always finding a level and what not.
