If we are going to compete with other nations on productivity and even on wages, that is fine, but if these nations have lax environmental, health and safety regulations, then there is no way we can keep up with them, no matter how smart and efficiently we work.

And we give them no incentive to clean up their act, either, which damages workers on both sides of the trade deal.

We definitely need things like incentives to pay workers fairly and have environmental and other regulations.
