Well, “unfit” isn’t that broad, is it?

Has s/he had a stroke serious enough to prevent her/im from physically carrying out the duties of the Prez, at least temporarily? No?

Has the Prez been found to have an aortic defect that requires emergency surgery and recovery that will last at least 24-hours requiring the Veep to step in? No?

Has the Prez decided that s/he is just not up to the job or just doesn’t want to do it anymore, a la the penultimate Pope? No?

I can see the 25th being invoked in any of those cases, either as a temp or a permanent fix.

But if none of those are true, and the Prez doesn’t want to leave, we are pretty much stuck with her/im unless his Cabinet chucks her/im out, which would require them to decide he is *mentally* unfit to continue. Which would mean they would have to say he’s not sane.

And that couldn’t help a Civil or Criminal prosecution.
