re: #130 Kragar

To everyone who says the solution to gun violence is we need more armed people going around…

All Nine Bystanders Injured During Friday’s Empire State Building Shooting Were Shot By Police

Some of the dedicated public servants (I use the term advisedly) at Policeone have tended to either underplay the injuries or mock the civilians who were shot and wonder aloud if they had all wandered into a firefight with their camera phones out.

No doubt, these same folks will tirelessly complain later that the public doesn’t give them enough respect.

I 100 agree with SASQUATCH. I can only hope that if he is right and some idiots were trying to tape it, they later write a widely read article and all those other idiots read it. The comfort level people have in interfering with police is climbing every day and this would be a great example of why it should stop. Even better, I hope its one of the “COPBLOCK” people. That’d be freakin amazing.

How many of these yahoos that got hit were in the process of pulling out their cell-phone cameras to video the cops? Seriously, I bet $$ some of these lemmings heard the shots, saw cops running with guns, and rather than duck for cover like an intelligent person, they probably grabbed for their cell-phone cameras. I mean, why take cover? The cops on TV don’t have bullets that ricochet. I bet as we see video of this surface, you’ll see a bunch of dweebs standing around with their cell-phone cameras out as bullets are flying. They’ll be the first ones to scream “foul” on the cops.

“Defense lawyer Ron Kuby noted that bystanders shot in crime-ridden neighborhoods do not usually attract much attention.”

Well, gee whiz, Ron. I wonder if that’s because the “bystanders” are normally criminals themselves who refuse to cooperate with the police in the resulting investigation. Asshole.

Robert Asika, 23, told the Times he was one of those people grazed by the bullets: “One of the cops shot me in my arm,” he said outside Bellevue Hospital Center, noting the gunman was moving toward him, and suggesting the officers “shot me probably trying to shoot him.” He said he wasn’t mad at police: “I get they were doing their job, but they have to be a little more careful when they are aiming the gun at the suspect and not hit the innocent victims,” he said.

But Asika took on a harsher tone in an interview with the Guardian UK, accusing those cops of “shooting randomly”, and hitting at least two other people: “If you’re gonna aim try and aim perfectly. If you wanna aim at the target, you got to know what you’re doing because it’s the street,” Asika said. “I could have been dead right now. I could have been dead.”

The more that idiot talks, the less I feel for him getting shot.

I guess we are supposed to thank officers for shooting bystanders at this point. Otherwise, they get their feelings hurt.
