I think the 2000 election should put a nail in the coffin of term limits. The only reason for term limits is because people can’t figure out how to beat an incumbent any other way. But what you end up with is not “Choose the best candidate” but “Choose the second best candidate” which turns into “Don’t you want to try something new?”

Yeah that’s why I don’t like the 22nd. The GOP was clearly frustrated by FDR’s popularity but FDR was the best possible president we could have had from 1940-44 I accept it of course but I’m not too keen on term limits overall. And when it coems to my state’s single term limit for our governors, don’t even get me started.
