reposted from the last because, just wow. this is the second, and last time i’m gonna have to write something like this.
limbaugh is an effin loon
since recently and temporarily i’ve been driving mom around a bit, i get the car radio. different from what i get at work
so i landed on limbaugh twice. 5 minutes was all i could take and it wont happen again
he’s a liar
he makes stuff up out of whole cloth
he twists the “truth”
and he doesnt support anything he says
and he slowly creeps his arguments from some sort of “specific” into these most general sweeping terms
its clear why people who listen to him for so long continue to. he is persuasive so they think they dont have to do any homework.
first you discount all the conspiracy parts.
90% of the stuff he says is verifiably not true
the remaining 10 is charitably “open to interpretation” under some bizarre point of view
anyway he’s just an “entertainer”, and free speech and all so lies or not, its all good
Kellyanne Conway looks a little shell-shocked in this photo with Malik Obama.
Deplorables all over Facebook trying to make up excuses for Drumpfskind. So many of the posts strike me as very juvenile, something one might find a 12 year old doing.
This election is weird. I find myself reading twitter feeds from anti-Trump Republicans, and I find myself agreeing with them and thinking they’re okay folks, till I run into the ‘Republican’ part of ‘anti-Trump Republican’.
I believe, however, that we really DO need a responsible opposition party, and if somehow magically the anti-Trump Republicans could from the nucleus of that party and eliminate/muzzle the white nationalists and Breitbartians, MAYBE they’d be useful.

Trying Safari now. Should get a good workout tonight.
Today in Nature, just one of many reasons why Clinton needs to win so big as to flip the House:
How Republicans reshaped the House science committee
Lamar Smith has made his mark on science. As chairman of the US House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, the Texas Republican has launched dozens of investigations into alleged wrongdoing by scientists, environmental groups and government officials. And he shows no signs of slowing down.
Since 2013, Smith has probed everything from individual National Science Foundation grants to government air-quality regulations — issuing an unprecedented 24 subpoenas along the way. And although the Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump, is foundering in the polls, the party is poised to retain control of the House of Representatives in the 8 November election. That means that Smith is likely to remain at the helm of the science committee for at least two more years.

This goes back to my post from the other day about ‘politics as usual’ - obstruction, government shut downs and filibusters are NOT ‘politics as usual’. That was shit that actually WORKED because people horsetraded and cut deals and gave votes in exchange for a park or a bridge or something, but shit got DONE!
When people started learning about that they recoiled, but the more we’ve tried to eliminate it through getting rid of earmarks, or electing ‘principled outsiders’ in place of ‘career politicians’, the less shit gets done and the more time and money gets wasted, and the lower the popularity of Congress.
It’s funny if you think about it - back when the place was arguably much more corrupt, in the ways we think of corruption, it was much more effective, and much more popular.

“Take your time, you have 90 minutes”.
My plan is to watch the stream through Youtube. However, I always feel that is behind the broadcast by at least tens of seconds, because I see people post here comments about what was said before I hear it.
Maybe it’s Cox that is caching the URL.

Overshadowed by Stanley Kubrick’s film, “Fail Safe” is one of my favorites nevertheless. I appreciate how differently the two films treat the same subject. The ending scene with the President and his telephone is chilling.
The two books consciously absorbed into Dr Strangelove were Fail Safe and Red Alert. Each became a stand-alone movie.

RationalWiki is in favour of Legislative Term Limits.
Shows how little they know on Politics.
Eh I think term limits are a little silly but I think that reasonable minded people can disagree on that issue. Honestly, it’s really not that big of a stretch if you support executive term limits to think legislative ones are favorable. I personally don’t like them since it forces you to lose people who are effective legislators but I understand why someone may support them.

The number of people watching the Youtube link is skyrocketing ….

“My supporters are very passionate!”

Here’s how I think the debate’s going to go:
Moderator: What do you think the correct response to the Israel-Palestinian issue is?
Donald: Well, I’ll tell you that we need to find out if this man is truly Bill Clinton’s son or not, and if so, put Bill in prison for having an affair.
…
Moderator: What plan do you have, Trump, for improving the standing of the middle class?
Donald: We should ask this poor woman who lost her son in Libya, a gold star mom, how she feels about having Hillary as president.
I do actually expect Wallace to try to keep things in line, but I really do think they’re the answer to all of the questions Trump will get asked.

I think the 2000 election should put a nail in the coffin of term limits. The only reason for term limits is because people can’t figure out how to beat an incumbent any other way. It pretty much did, in that no new states are adopting them and only three have since 2000. (In fact, more states have had term limits rescinded than adopted since then.)

I do see the point of them for POTUS but at the same time, I think they could really test the country in a bad way. Really don’t want to think how things would have been had FDR been term limited in 1940 but it is what it is. There’s a reason why it’s in place and I understand it. Just hope we don’t have another crisis like that ever again.

Re: Malik Obama
If when he accepted the invitation from Trump to attend tonight’s debate, he thought he’d be receiving a call from the WH, he totally underestimated the president. I think BO wrote him off as a grifter shortly after he met him. Shortly after BO left Kenya, Malik ran for a local political position there and tried to tie himself to BO. He is also pissed because he hasn’t been invited to the WH. I have a brother that I love dearly, but I don’t have much contact with him even though we live in the same city. I know my brother is a 1st Class sh*t stirrer who is always putting himself in others’ business but never wants anyone to insert themselves into his. He has what I call a “kingmaker wanna be” personality, and although I love him, I cannot permit him to run my business and his. He recently caused a huge rift to develop between himself and my youngest brother because of meddling in my youngest brother’s personal affairs.

If there’s an admonition for no one to talk or cheer or applaud during the debate, why have any audience at all. That’s just begging for applause and interruptions.
