i took it from why we use procedures and checklists in scuba diving and flying, etc

use the checklist and nothing ever goes wrong. then we get too comfortable - since nothing ever goes wrong why use the checklist? then we slip up, hopefully non fatally and not too expensively and say “oh yeah, right”

Yep. I actually used to intern in the Dulles ATC tower. Man that’s a job we take for granted.
