Which Nixon bio? There was an Evan Thomas one from a year or two ago, and more recently another one from an author whose name I forget but who also wrote a bio of Clarence Darrow.

An older Nixon bio by Tom Wicker is also surprisingly good.

John A. Farrell is who you’re thinking of and he wrote this one. I’ll check out that Darrow one. I like his writing style so far. He starts by introducing us to then Naval Lt. Nixon and we see how Nixon was able to despite being one of the most unnatural politicians I’ve ever studied become only the second man along with FDR who was very much a natural politician to be on a presidential ticket for a major party five times.
