OTOH, my boss at my internship just told me today that when I start school, they’re going to put me on the hourly payroll. I’ll be bringing in a paycheck again, thank SRV. It won’t be a massive payday since I’ll be part-time while in school, but it’s cash in my pocket so it’s all good.

That’s a relief. There were years during undergrad when the stupid Republicans in the CA legislature would stonewall the budget and all state employees would be paid by IOU. How the eff is anyone supposed to pay bills via IOU?

It’s happened a few times since then, but luckily I was in the UC system at the time, which was spared that. The Cal State and community college systems weren’t.
