And I actually don’t like the idea of teaching any kind of religious dogma, as if “belief” has to be “learned”, in schools—unless they are specifically privately and religiously run and then they can have all the fun with it they want.

OTOH, churches themselves would never teach “comparative religions”, either, because religion is subjective and each sect the “only true” one.

I have taught about Islam, Judaism, the varieties and differences between various protestant sects, Rome vs Canterbury, as well as talking about the similarities and differences of Buddhism and Christianity in my Sunday School classes over the years. I also teach that even if you take the bible as the Word of God, it is still transcribed by fallible human hands. Of course this is the Episcopal church and we’re heathens almost as much as the UU’s to the far right.
