A lot of people thought the election of the first black President would make it possible to finally have the adult conversation about race and racism in America, but I think most white folks hoped it had just obviated the need to even have the conversation.

I wish it were that nice, but I think a lot of white folks think Obama is the perfect example of why black folks get things their white son does not. Does that even make sense if you think about it? No, but who has ever accused them of thinking through these things?
