Yes, it’s his belief that a certain portion of the increase in diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorders is the result of an expansion of the diagnostic criteria; in essence, the term has become so broad as to be meaningless. He compared it to describing myopia as a Blindness Spectrum Disorder.

Well, when the certain portion is 99%, I can understand the flak, even if it may be right to some much smaller degree. (I don’t have any experience to say, though)
