I do think there’s one aspect of HW Bush’s legacy here that we solely miss right now. A President with the ability to laugh at himself. He enjoyed Dana Carvey’s SNL portrayal so much I believe they became friends and he liked playing pranks too. He was serious when he needed to be but not a cold, humorless President incapable of laughing at himself and his family.

That is basic humanity. There’s something mentally wrong with a person who has no sense of humor or who cannot laugh at themself….or at least pretend to do so.
