A press release is too cowardly and too easy to ignore; it needs to be said in person. A special conference, maybe - the danger is that it becomes all about McCain and not about the topic.

I think the Senate floor is perfect. It puts not only his fellow Republicans on the spot; it also reels in the Democrats, who would certainly support an expression of disgust over these loons (wouldn’t they?). It could turn out to be the beginnings of a way to mend the bitter partisanship that has grown up in the Congress in the last few years, egged on by the insane baying of the fringe on both sides.
