Yes exactly. Every optic has its “sweet” spot. That’s one reason experience matters. I have the CoC math if you want it as an excel sheet. For my tests I opened up until I got the ultra sharp look jewelry demands. F8 was it on my setup. F22 really blurred the image. Medium format has an even shallower depth, but shifting the front element around lets you cheat kinda.
