Well, I was just trying to think of what they thought of as a threat back in the day. I assume they believed that the Indians were a threat to security at the time. Just in case the 2nd Amendment reads:

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
