Well, except in the families where the kid announces that they were gay and their parents beat them, kick them out in the street, or force them to go to gay education camps. Your scenario is a nice one, but unfortunately the amount of abuse and rejection gay kids experience is immense. A lot of the homeless kids I worked with back in the day had been kicked out by their asshole parents.

And many parents can never deal with the fact that their kids are gay. They just can’t even face it. Sad.
