re meals, i had the 1960s urban divorced parents experience:

breakfast - you’re on your own. i might have had some powdered milk or maybe a coke

lunch - at the school cafeteria. most likely chance of the day for good nutrition

dinner - dad heats up swanson’s tv dinners, and the three of us sit around the dinner table like zombies watching rereuns of i love lucy. or once a week or so at the local chinese or a deli. or out with the g.parents at schrafft’s, which specialized in ‘american’ food, like bland turkey with bland mashed potatoes and peas, and hearts of iceberg with a tomato slice and thousand island
