By the end of the day, I’m figuring that the kid will have an MIT or Stamford scholarship; a Facebook or NASA internship, or a full-fledged job with any number of tech companies.

And the right wing will still seek to assassinate the kid’s character - all for doing absolutely nothing wrong.

The same can’t be said of the school and police officials who overreacted with great haste.
