During the 2004 election cycle a memo appeared that appeared to have been written by GWB commander (Texas Air National Guard) saying that GWB failed to show up enough to meet his commitment. The only thing is that the memo could never have been produced on the available (at that time) typewriters. Hence the fake but accurate memo. A flashing graphic of the two memos pretty much proved that the memo was a fake. This involved Dan Rather and led to his being run out of CBS.
