So, I have now seen all of Doctor Who on Netflix.

Can I say, I found the 5th Doctor to be tediously dull as a character?

I think Clara was what Ace was supposed to be, had the show not been cancelled. Minus the Romantic Tension between 12 and Clara that was absent completely between 7 and Ace.

5 is the worse of the Doctors, at least to me.

Peter Davison? I don’t remember a companion named Ace. Adric, Tegan, and Nyssa, and later Turlough, but not Ace.
