I think Matthew is my favorite book of the Bible: A straightforward, consistent and fast-paced account of Jesus’s career as He heals the sick and feeds the hungry, then goes on to annoy the Russians Romans and confront hypocritical televangelists Pharisees and ends up instigating a riot against Wall Street Temple crooks and money-changers.

I’m partial to Numbers 22 and 23: it features a talking donkey and no one bats a frigging eyelash that a donkey just starts talking out of nowhere.

For extra fun, imagine the donkey with Eddie Murphy’s voice, a la Shrek.
