Hard to imagine that here. Parents will vote that right out. Never been invaded so tough to argue. No enemies at our gates.

In 1973, Egypt made the mistake of thinking a Yom Kippur invasion would meet little resistance — “they’re all at services, not guarding the border”.

In actual fact, “they’re all at services” meant everyone was really easy to find, all within easy jogging distance of their reserves unit’s rally point and armory, and the roads were empty so people could get to where they were needed at their vehicles’ fastest possible speed.

Israel was able to muster and deploy 2 million fully trained, fully equipped, combat-ready troops in 90 minutes. I don’t think the U.S. could do that, even with a population 35 times bigger than theirs.
