There’s been a lot of movement among young Evangelicals to refocus away from the gay-bashing already.

I suspect that some of the outrage coming from the older SoCon crowd arises out of this fear - that they are losing control of their young people. Even their young who are remaining religious are turning towards new modes of thinking. There is a rise of “progressive Christians” from within the evangelical rank, and the fundamentalists are circling their wagons.
