I’m not sure if I’m watching a rerun, but Haberman was on with Anderson Cooper and now says a third White House aide has said Trump told him or her that the Access Hollywood tape isn’t real, and that he wants to hire people to prove its authenticity or lack thereof.

Charles postulated the other day that Trump is trying to gaslight America. I’m starting to think that Trump is trying to gaslight himself. The demented old bastard is erasing his own negative history in his own head.

I think that’s probably true. He’s always been an asshole, he’s always been greedy, but he used to be a fluent salesman. When he was shooting the shit with Howard Stern, he was capable of complete sentences. Nowadays, it’s gibberish. He can do a set-piece, a speech that links together, in a slightly different order, whole pages that he’s done so often he can memorize them; even then he goes off the rails sometimes, and if you try to parse his off-the-cuff responses, well, you can’t. You can usually piece together some kind of meaning, but it’s scattershot. And it would not surprise me at all if he has selectively edited his memory already. He’s got to go, and I think everyone in DC knows it.
