re: #186 KGxvi
The only one I’m fine with is the business meal deduction. It’s probably fairly marginal, but it does help some businesses when outside sales people can call up a client and say “hey, lemme take you to lunch” or the boss decides to spring for lunch for the crew. It probably effects small businesses more, honestly, but it’s not something I would fight over on either side - like if the other side wanted it and I could get something for agreeing to it, fine; or if the other side demanded we give it up in exchange for them giving it up, also fine.
The other two are just stupid.
i hear you but i’m not seeing it
what tax rate is the average ‘business’ paying? (not the big guys. i know about them)
because the overall effect is 50% of the cost of meals adjusted by your tax rate
is anyone really gonna make advertising/goodwill/marketing/entertainment decisions based on that
if you’ve got net income, a $100 lunch at 100% deductible vs 50% and a 15% tax rate saves you $7.50 in tax
