We just got a 12 week old kitten, and our 8 year old cat is not thinking this was such a swell idea. No over-the-top violence, but lots of ear boxing, hissing, spitting and those really low frequency growls cats do when they’re super pissed.

It’s only been about three weeks, so it’s a little early to tell how this is going to work out. But I’ll listen to hints if anyone has them.

You will simply have to wait it out. They will work it out. They will never be close buddies, but they will learn to live with each other. Probably better if they each have their own bowl for food - my 5 cats have their own “spots”, it sort of happened naturally. We still have a few of those low-frequency growling contests, and the occasional spitting and ear-boxing, but it doesn’t go beyond that.
