I have to say it’s remarkable that, in my lifetime, America has patched up relations with former enemies China, Vietnam and Cuba, Germany has been reunified, the Soviet Union has collapsed, and a black man has been elected president. Despite all the other crap we’ve lived with and through, these achievements are pretty amazing for this child of the ’50s.
