They’d have to be SUPER ignorant, because the legislation they’d have to introduce to bring back poll taxes would have to be a constitutional amendment, to wit, the 24th Amendment:

This SCOTUS ruled the Florida poll tax was legal. So let’s not assume that a new poll tax would be declared unconstitutional.
