I don’t “know” they’re going to try for a woman. I do, however, see your reasoning. They’re losing white women at an ugly level. They’re also losing hispanics, but the fight there hasn’t had the politicians doing the ‘no we’re not’ dance.

If you’re going that way, the only governor that might hold a candle is Fallin of Oklahoma. However, I think you’re missing the boat when you insist on only governors. Senators are good; Olympia Snowe comes to my mind as a possibility, with Kay Bailey Hutchison coming a distant second. Yes, they’d get some “RINO” cries, but I don’t think either would really drive away the base.
