My list of the best Stephen King films:

The Shining
The Green Mile
The Shawshank Redemption
The Mist

When I first saw The Shining I actually did not like it very much. Kubrick cut out some very important plot elements from the book, and watered down the supernatural stuff. Now, after seeing it many times and really getting what Kubrick was doing, I think it’s a great film — one of Kubrick’s best.

I hadn’t really thought of The Mist, but I have to admit that ending is one of the most haunting I’ve seen in films recently. I’m still trying to figure out how he managed to get the studio to sign off on it.
