You could make an argument that someone 16 or older (mileage may vary) is old enough to deal with having an affair with a teacher, that is to say, be somewhat an equal partner in the affair, but such arguments have no merit when dealing with students 15 and under. Then we are talking about clear-cut child rape/molestation. The writer does not address this issue at all, even while mentioning the statutory rape conviction involving a 14-year-old.

Are we supposed to break down the barrier between the second most important “authority” figure in a kid’s life, a teacher, simply to satisfy this woman’s illogical opinion? A real adult doesn’t engage his or her selfish fantasies with under-aged kids, no matter who they are. It is not an equal relationship under any circumstances.
