I realize this isn’t 100% foolproof - see Jason Lee - but wouldn’t blanks be a good idea if they want to use something in the classroom?

Blanks still have gunpowder and wadding, so it is possible they can still injure at close range.

Instead, dummy ammunition might work.

I don’t know about the person who shot the gun shop owner, but I suspect he brought his own gun and it was loaded.
