This is what scares me. We’ve a political base that a effectively post-truth; the only thing that matters is that you “side” is never wrong, and your opponent is guilty of everything.

Now generalize that principle. Apply it to foreign policy, domestic policy, legal proceedings, intelligence gathering.

It’s basically Soviet.

If enough citizens in a democracy buy into this detachment from reality, self-governance becomes impossible.
