One of the reasons I’m an Episcopalian instead of Roman. Priests can be male or female and marry. Much more reflective of the human condition.
Wife’s RC parish just got a married priest—he swam the Tiber, towing his wife. It took a couple years for the Vatican to rule that his episcopal succession was sound.
(We had a lot of married priests in communion with Rome in the 50s, then the Greek Catholics changed their rules. RC unmarried clergy is a management decision, not a theological requirement.)
