First thing we need to do is to make it legal to slap the living crap out of the first asshole who says, “But the HOUSE is supposed to represent the people! The Senate is supposed to represent the STATES!”

Because you KNOW that’s what they’ll say.

Then they’ll say, “If you want to change it, you can just pass an Amendment” - which has to be ratified by 2/3 of the states, and 2/3 of the states are overrepresented and will never ratify an Amendment that reduces their voice.

BUT, honestly, i think if it doesn’t get done soon, peacefully through the political process, it will get done later, by some less peaceful process.

I recently read that in 20-30 years it is expected that 70% of the US population will live in the 15 most populous states. At that point, the Senate will be exactly ass-backwards, with 30 Senators representing 70% of the population and 70 Senators representing 30% of the population.

That level of imbalance is going to put a real strain on the system, especially if the Republicans remain the batshit insane death cult they presently are.
