The range of acceptable F/F affection in expression and PDA was usually a lot broader historically.

And still is. I saw two teenage girls with their arms hooked at the outdoor concert I worked last night, and I doubt people thought much of it. Had to guys been doing it, I’m pretty sure it would have gotten plenty of reactions.
