The famous study about, I think, prisoner abuse —where they put a person in a room with a button (supposedly connected to electrical wire) and were told to raise the level of electricity to the “victim”—while they supposedly heard the victim screaming. And the subjects did it.

That was freaky too!

The Stanford experiment. They made a movie loosely based on the concept. It was a pretty good movie:
